Our Privacy Policy

OCR.space follows the principle of data avoidance and data economy ("Datensparsamkeit" in German): We only collect the minimum data we need to provide the OCR service, and only keep the data as long as we need to.

Personal data

Free account: We collect your email address to send you your personal API KEY.

PRO and PRO PDF accounts: In addition to your email, we need your billing information. But your credit card and billing details are not stored on our servers. Instead we use a trusted 3rd-party provider (Fastspring) to handle the subscription billing.

OCR API (Hosted solution, Cloud OCR)

All uploaded documents are deleted after processing. We do not keep any of your data.

If you instruct the API to create a searchable PDF, the file will be available on our servers for 60 minutes to allow the download, and then deleted as well.

We log the IP address of each API access. This information is stored for a month, then deleted.

Visitor tracking

We use Google Analytics and other 3rd party tools on our website. This data is not combined with the OCR data.

Changes to the privacy policy

The Privacy Policy may be changed occasionally and you are advised to check it from time to time.

Applicable Law

The OCR.space team headquarter is in Europe (Germany). The strict European data protection laws apply.

OCR.space is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) EU regulation. A signed GDPR data processing agreement is available for PRO PDF and Enterprise users at no additional cost. You can request it from tech support.
